1972 Mosrite Mark I

How cool is this?! It's all original and in excellent condition for being over 50 years old! There a couple small dings and finish checking but nothing major. One of the cool features on these early 70's Mark 1 models is the neck is a little bigger than the ones form the 60's. There's no fret wear and plays great! Weighs 8.62 lbs and includes a reissue Mosrite rectangle case.

This 1972 Mosrite Mark I is a striking and distinctive electric guitar that captures the bold, unconventional spirit of early-‘70s rock and surf music. Originally made famous in the 1960s by The Ventures, the Mark I continued into the ’70s with subtle changes in construction and styling—while retaining the hallmark features that made Mosrite guitars so unique.

With its futuristic offset body and blazing fast neck, this 1972 Mosrite Mark I stands as a high-performance alternative to mainstream designs of the era.
    •    Body:  Mosrite’s signature German carved top and asymmetrical silhouette. The contoured design offers comfortable playability and a visually distinct, almost space-age aesthetic.
    •    Neck: Bolt-on maple neck with a remarkably slim, narrow profile—lightning fast and incredibly playable. The depth of the neck at the 1st fret is .781" and the same at the 12th fret. The fretboard is bound rosewood with 22 frets and dot inlays, and a zero fret just before the nut for improved intonation.
    •    Scale Length: 24.5”, contributing to its slinky feel and quick, responsive play.
    •    Pickups: Two Mosrite single-coil pickups with high output and a bright, edgy tone. These pickups deliver a cutting, trebly bite perfect for surf rock, punk, and garage sounds, with surprising clarity and snap.
    •    Electronics: Simple and effective—dual volume and tone controls, and a 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection.
    •    Bridge and Vibrato: Mosrite’s proprietary roller bridge and spring-loaded Moseley vibrato system, designed for smooth pitch modulation and excellent tuning stability.
    •    Hardware: Chrome-plated hardware with distinctive “M” knobs and unique Mosrite logo tuners.
Character:

This 1972 Mosrite Mark I is a fast, responsive, and sonically unique instrument—ideal for players seeking something outside the Fender/Gibson mold. Its sharp attack, narrow neck, and space-age styling make it a cult favorite among surf rockers, punk pioneers, and tone hunters alike.
